Meals & Nutrition
For the residents at Kiwanis Care Centre, nutritious and appetizing meals are freshly prepared in our kitchen and served three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) restaurant style, in our dining room. Meals are appetizing and attractive and meet the Canada Food Guidelines for quality and nutritional content. We have a gentle care program with breakfast served until 10 o’clock each morning.
There are also two tea times daily (mid-morning and mid-afternoon) which provide residents with social time accompanied by in-house baked goods and refreshments.
Our resident dietitian is responsible for determining the nutritional status of all residents and developing an individualized nutritional care plan for each resident. Our dietitian will meet with new residents to discuss food preferences, allergies or any special requests.
Visitors at Meal Times
The Dietary Department welcomes family members as guests for meals with one hour advance notice. Meal times are very social times in our own homes and residents enjoy “hosting” their guests. A nominal fee will be charged.
