test post

Message from Lorrie Gerrard (Executive Director):

I would like to thank everyone for their patience during this very stressful and unusual time.  As we have transitioned into our “new normal” it has been very uplifting for our staff to receive the support and appreciation from our family members for the job they are doing and the care they are providing to your loved ones.

We have been working very hard to ensure the safety and wellness of your loved one by:

  • Enhanced cleaning procedures;
  • Health screening of all staff entering and exiting the building;
  • Ensuring staff only work at Kiwanis Care Centre – no other care centre;
  • Extensive resident health screening;
  • Restricted access to our building (including deliveries, etc);
  • Social distancing of residents;
  • Restricting activities which cannot accommodate social distancing; (please be assured that our recreation department has become very creative and are ensuring that there is still lots of things happening throughout the day!)

I understand that these are very difficult times.  Our recreation department has been working on a process to connect our residents with family and friends through FaceTime, Skype, etc.  (More information below).

It is our hope that this will end soon and we will be able to welcome back our visitors (our extended family!).  I can be reached at [email protected] or at (604)525-6471 Extension 333.

Stay safe.

Message from Pierre Florendo (Director of Care):

We know current circumstances have been challenging for you, especially considering the inability to visit your loved ones.  Rest assured, we are taking every measure to protect your loved one while supporting the best quality of life possible.

We have an extensive screening process in place for both staff and residents to minimize the risk of illness.  We also adhere to the physical distancing guidelines where possible.

Please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected] or by phone at (604)525-6471 Ext 228 for any questions or concerns.

Further, we will continue to conduct care conferences either via phone or by video as desired.  I will be contacting you when your loved ones care conference is due.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all seek the best for your loved ones in our care.
